The pomegranate is one of the seven species mentioned in the Torah as God’s blessing of the Holy Land – “a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig-trees and pomegranates; a land of olive trees and honey” (Deuteronomy 8:8). The pomegranate is a symbol of abundance and blessing. In biblical times and today, pomegranate trees are common in the Shiloh area. The bowl can be used for serving condiments, or as an ornament.
