Ceramic and mosaic Hoshen medallion

Hoshen patterned ceramic and mosaic plaque, attached to a rope for hanging on a wall. Handcrafted by a local artist. The Hoshen was the breastplate worn by the High Priest at the Temple and at the Tabernacle in Shiloh. The Hoshen had 12 different colored gemstones, each engraved with the name of one of the Twelve Tribes. “And the stones shall be according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names; like the engravings of a signet, every one according to his name, they shall be for the twelve tribes.” (Exodus 28:21)
